The knock-on effect worth watching: the block also includes Islands, Basta, and Plata Taqueria within a short walk, which turns a single brewery reopening into a legitimate dinner-and-drinks node rather than a one-stop.
What The Planning Commission Is Reviewing

The Agoura Hills Planning Commission has been reviewing an application at 29020 Agoura Road for a project called Connections Cafe alongside a dance studio called Builders of a Better World, with an outdoor dining area, described by the applicant as a destination for locals seeking community through dance or a cup of coffee, calling for a 2,272 sq ft cafe, a 5,351 sq ft dance studio, and 662 sq ft of outdoor dining; city staff has recommended approval.
Two things stand out in that footprint. The dance studio is more than twice the size of the cafe, which suggests the operators expect programming, not walk-in coffee traffic, to be the anchor. And 662 square feet of outdoor dining at a Class-A cafe pad is modest for a Southern California build; the applicant is clearly optimizing for interior program rather than patio scene. For residents on the east side of town, this is the kind of use that lives or dies on parents-and-kids weekday programming, so the actual test will be class enrollment, not brunch counts.
The Wildlife Crossing You Can Almost See From The 101
The Wallis Annenberg Wildlife Crossing has been under construction long enough that most locals have stopped tracking it. This is the fall it stops being construction.
Caltrans announced that a major addition has started on the Wallis Annenberg Wildlife Crossing over US 101 in Agoura Hills, with approximately 5,000 native plants scheduled to be installed atop the bridge for completion in fall 2026. The planting palette includes coastal sage scrub species such as California aster, purple sage, hoaryleaf ceanothus, narrowleaf milkweed, bush sunflowers and scarlet bugler, chosen to support movement of mountain lions, bobcats, deer, foxes and pollinators while reducing wildlife-vehicle collisions and the genetic isolation caused by freeways.
Two field notes for residents. First, the section of Liberty Canyon Road that runs under the bridge has been a quiet spot to walk since the trail networks reopened; the view of the underside of the span is the closest ground-level look most people will ever get. Second, if you are a birder or a plant person, the specific list above is the one to memorize before fall. Narrowleaf milkweed is the plant to watch for monarchs, and hoaryleaf ceanothus draws pollinators the moment it establishes.
